“This is going to be an especially exciting year to celebrate Irish
heritage in Atlanta,” says Dan O’Leary, Chairman of the Committee for
the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival and Owner of Underground
Atlanta. “We have more fun activities and ways to enjoy the holiday than
ever before. You can catch prizes and beads from ornate parade floats at
the Parade and enjoy bagpipers, Irish dancers and other family-oriented
activities afterwards at Underground Atlanta. Come Downtown and bring
your green!”
Discover eight reasons to “paint the town green” for the 128th Annual
Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival:
8. Lucky Leprechauns of ALL ages can attend the family-friendly 128th
Annual Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade, starting at noon on Saturday, March
13. On the 1.1 mile route from Peachtree/Ralph McGill to Underground
Atlanta, spectators will witness more than 200 units, including clowns,
floats, bands of every kind, military units, Bagpipe and Drum Corps,
Irish dancers, drill teams, dignitaries from Ireland and more!
7. Two-time NCAA and seven-time SEC “Coach of the Year” Vince Dooley
is Grand Marshal of the parade and will ride in style with his wife
Barbara and one of the descendants of UGA V.
6. The celebration continues post parade at Underground Atlanta for
the St. Patrick’s Festival, with Irish dancing troupes, bagpipers, a
vendor’s market, an Interactive Zone presented by the Atlanta Hawks and
Thrashers Street Team and other activities for green-loving folks, both
young and old, from noon to 8pm. Visit the Lower Fountains Stage, Lucky
Charm Stage, Food Court Stage or Kenny’s Alley Stage for a wee bit o’
music, including: U2 tribute band Desire, Yacht Rock Schooner, teen
sensation Zoe Myers and bagpiper Danny Ray Cole!
5. Other festive activities include the Irish Chamber Breakfast,
Dignitaries Breakfast and “greening” Underground Atlanta’s fountains.
4. Leave your shamrocks - and the big bucks - at home…the luck of the
Irish is with you all FREE weekend long.
3. Duke, Captain and Bud…The Budweiser Clydesdale horses are
returning to Peachtree. Don’t miss these iconic horses in the Parade or
in their stables in Centennial Park. Come take your photo with a
Clydesdale at Underground Atlanta during the Festival!
2. The 2010 beneficiary is the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Drop-off
bins will be located along the parade route and at Underground, so bring
your cans! Win a premier spot in the parade by raising the most cans or
money pre-event with the “Pot of Gold” campaign.

elegant affair at Cobb Energy Center on Wednesday, March 10. Enjoy
dinner, cocktails, a live and silent auction and an exclusive
