Atlanta St.
Patrick’s Parade
Saturday, March 14, 2009
12 Noon Peachtree St.
We want you!
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the
upcoming Parade. If you are interested, or have questions not
answered on this page, please go to
www.stpatsatlanta.com or
contact our Volunteer Coordinator - John Caffrey by Email
jcaffrey@bellsouth.net or call
the parade phone at 678/754-5834.
Basic duties of Parade Volunteers:
- Answer questions from spectators. (The Parade Committee will
provide a list of Frequently Asked Questions, with answers.)
- Keep the spectators out of the Parade route and help line-up
the parade. Parade Volunteers will help line-up the parade, keep
units moving in a timely fashion, help maintain the curb line,
and prevent spectators from moving into the street.
- Be available from check-in at 9:00 AM, until 3:00 PM. The
Post-Parade Party will begin at the Event Loft at Underground
Atlanta following disbanding.
- Be pleasant and helpful.
- Be willing to have fun. Most people who attend our Parade
are well-behaved. So, your job is often not very difficult,
meaning you'll have more fun.

FAQs
(Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Are the information
sessions mandatory?
A: The information session is important, so it is
strongly requested that you attend one of the information sessions.
We introduce you to some of the Block Captains, as well as convey
important parade information to new and returning volunteers. Each
year, some procedures change, so we want volunteers to be aware of
anything that changes, along with a refresh of past procedures. Even
veteran volunteers are requested to attend one of the two
information sessions.
Q: If I can't make the
information session, can I still volunteer?
A: You can still volunteer, but we strongly encourage you
to attend the information session. If you miss the session(s), it
may limit your ability to perform certain duties.
Q: On parade day, where
do I check-in?
A: At 9:00 AM on parade day, all volunteers should
arrive at Parade Headquarters at SunTrust Plaza. The Headquarters staff will check you
in, answer any last minute questions, and assist with getting you to
your designated volunteer location.
Q: Where should I park?
A: Visit the website
www.stpatsatlanta.com for
suggestions of where to park.
MARTA is a GREAT ALTERNATIVE!
Q: How long will I be needed on Parade
Day?
A: We ask that all parade volunteers check in at the
Headquarters at 9:00 AM. The Parade begins at Noon. Your volunteer
commitment will end about 3:30 PM,. Your block captain will release
you to go to the Event Loft at Underground Atlanta, where the
Post-Parade Party will be held.
Q: Name three things
I'll wish I'd brought with me to volunteer on Parade day.
A: This would depend on the weather. For a cold day,
you'll want to bring a warm hat, warm gloves, and warm shoes. For a
sunny day, you'll want to bring sunglasses, suntan lotion, and a
hat. Remember - the parade goes on rain, shine or snow.
Q: Is there a dress
code?
A: We provide an Atlanta St. Patrick's Parade T-shirt to
be worn over your own clothing. You will receive this on Parade Day
at check-in. You will also receive a "Parade Volunteer" Safety Vest
which will be collected following the parade for use next year.
